Since 1986, the Center for Economic Development has provided regional business and community leaders with timely data, information and research.  In 1997, the CED learned, by tracking our inquiries, that a large number of inquiries originated with local business leaders, seeking information to better understand their existing and potential markets.  In 1997, the CED held California's first "Economic Gardening Conference."   Held in Chico, California, the conference included a variety of speakers, including Chris Gibbons, and energy consultant and technical professional from Littleton, Colorado as well as others from across the Western United States.
